Meet a poet

Winnie-the-Pooh is in our jungle because he appears in the Tiger book along with Tigger. A poet of sorts, he 'hummed hopefully to others' and recognised the importance of tiddely poms. He was created from the imagination of at least three people: Christopher Robin, the boy who loved to visit Winnie the black American bear at London zoo (and gave his teddy the name Winnie-the-Pooh), his father the writer A.A. Milne, and the artist Ernest Shepard, who rounded him off... perfectly. We suspect that Mrs Milne had something to do with his creation as well.

Some favourite poems and poets are contained in the next pages.
